Leaders in healthcare collaborate to launch The Élite Collection — three boutique-style senior living communities rooted in hospitality and integrated wellness.

Two of the nation’s leading senior living experts, Silverstone Senior Living and Watermark Retirement Communities have collaborated to bring boutique senior living rooted in hospitality and integrated wellness to the Washington, D.C. area. These stunning properties offer features and amenities not typically found in assisted living communities and provide personalized service, care, and innovative programming focused on renewal, rather than retirement.

The Élite Collection

Dallas-based Silverstone entered the Washington market in 2018 with three ground up developments in Fairfax, Rockville, and Alexandria, representing a $250 million investment. Tucson-based Watermark Retirement Communities, known for its impeccable service, innovative care, and pioneering programming, will manage the properties offering assisted living, memory care and independent living options.

“Silverstone and Watermark are out to change the way people think about assisted living,” said Denny Alberts, chief executive officer for Silverstone. “We provide best in class, boutique by design senior living residences in distinctive destinations that are as comfortable as home, as luxurious as a country club and provide sophisticated state-of-the-art services and personal care.”

Redefining assisted living

The Élite Collection offers a wide variety of amenities that rival world-class resorts, such as 24/7 concierge services, chef-driven restaurants, salons, spas, art studios, landscaped gardens, terraces, and rooftop lounges. From the attentive concierge to the chef who comes from high-end resorts and hotels to the on-site sommelier, staff are selected for their expertise, as well as their desire to evolve senior living and provide an unparalleled experience.

Watermark’s highly trained associates provide custom support, personal assistance, and award-winning programs for those in assisted living and memory care.

  • Watermark University provides an opportunity for residents, associates, and family members to continue learning, growing, and achieving wellness with customized courses based on personal passions, experiences, and areas of interest.
  • EngageVR offers a virtual reality exercise that keeps the brain active while providing uplifting and educational experiences, allowing residents to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, stroll along the Seine River in Paris or visit the street they grew up on.
  • Gourmet Bites Cuisine is a pioneering process that transforms delicious menu items into nutritional, visually pleasing, and easily hand-held portions for residents with cognitive, physical, or neuromuscular challenges.

“Person-centered care is the goal in every memory care program,” says Maureen Garvey, regional director of resident programming for Watermark. “What Watermark does differently is continue to design and evolve signature programs that support and enhance tailored care.”

Curated locations

Each community is in a handpicked, curated neighborhood that offers cultural enrichment with access to arts, entertainment, education facilities as well as shopping and dining destinations.

  • The Providence, an elegant, artful assisted living and memory care community in Fairfax, Virginia’s MetroWest neighborhood, was the first to welcome residents in March. Amenities at The Providence include professional concierge and valet services, a salon, spa and wellness center, chef-driven restaurants and more, all in an awe-inspiring setting with thoughtful and imaginative interior design, light-filled common areas and a rooftop terrace.

  • The Seneca, located right next to King Farm in Rockville, Maryland, will welcome residents in July. This nature-focused community is redefining assisted living with high-end dining, a wellness-focused lifestyle, forward-thinking technology, and attentive personal care.  Surrounded by tall, lush trees, The Seneca is a peaceful oasis in an ideal suburban location. Among other world-class amenities, the tranquil Serenity Garden and meditative Labyrinth Walk offer the chance to connect with nature.

  • The Landing, situated steps away from the Potomac River in the new collective area called National Landing, opens in early 2022 and will be the first community to offer independent living in addition to assisted living and memory care. The Landing offers residences with private balconies and sweeping views of the Potomac River and Washington, D.C., including nine premium penthouse suites. With its emphasis on hospitality-focused living and state-of-the-art amenities, The Landing offers an array of culinary options, including three signature chef-driven restaurants, a wine cellar, private dining, and a rooftop terrace lounge.

Welcome home

Private studio, one- and two-bedroom residences are available on a monthly rental basis with no long-term commitment. Apartments feature modern kitchenettes, high-end appliances, upscale finishes, tall ceilings, and ample natural light. Some include a private balcony.

“We are truly excited to bring our Watermark brand to Silverstone’s Élite Collection of properties,” said David Barnes, chief executive officer of Watermark Retirement Communities. “Our aging seniors deserve living experiences that allow them to continue to thrive in comfortable and engaging environments and together we bring a one-of-a-kind lifestyle for discerning seniors accustomed to the utmost level of quality.”
